Shakelia was a little girl watching her mother styling hair. She started doing hair in high school. She practiced on her friends and they were always satisfied once she was finished. She taught herself how to braid when she was a senior in high school, and she liked to practice on little girls to get better at it. Shakelia graduated high school in 2002 and went off to college as her passion for hair had gotten stronger. She started doing hair in college to have some extra money. She came home in 2004 and decided she didn’t want to go to college anymore she wanted to go to cosmetology school. At the end of 2004 she enrolled at Alternative Visions Hair Academy. She only went a couple of months and decided she needed to work instead then she would go back and finish. Shakelia worked for about 6 years at different places. No matter what she found herself doing, her passion for hair was strong. In 2011 she enrolled at Chattanooga State cosmetology program as a full-time student she graduated a year later. Shakelia received her license in August 2012 and is very excited to be able to do what she loves- nourishing hair. Shakelia does weave, braids, natural and relaxed hair and also educate clients on hair care, but above all else, she is passionate about making you look & feel pampered.

Hello, my name is Natasha Pickett, I am a hair stylist at the Bling Beauty Bar. I am a mother, stylist, and fitness instructor. I became interested in doing hair at a young age, my dolls were my first clients. As I grew older my clients changed from dolls to family members and classmates in high school. In 1998 I Graduated from high school an considered going to college but I could not put aside one of the first recognizable gifts God gave me- that is styling hair. Although my mother really wanted me to attend college, she acknowledged that this was my life’s journey an agreed that I should attend cosmetology school, and I did. I attended Pazazz hair academy in 1999 and completed the course in the year 2000. I immediately began my job search and was hired at a local salon in the mall. After a 2 year journey I stepped out on faith an began working at a new salon. Here I am, 14 years later, still enjoying what I do; thriving in a career that the only way to survive is by keeping the faith an trusting God! When I first started doing hair God gave me this scripture Psalms 138:8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me; thy mercy, O Lord, endured forever; FORSAKE NOT THE WORKS OF THINE OWN HANDS… an on this same word I still stand. Please come visit us here at the Bling Beauty Bar, we would love to turn your visit into an experience. Thanks :~)
